A woman was injured after having parts of a sheltered walkway fall onto her, with her son sharing the incident onto his Facebook on 1 March.
A ceiling board had dropped onto her head as she was walking along the walkway at Yishun Street 22, and she suffered injuries, with bloodstains seen on her cheek, neck and shoulder.
Nee Soon GRC MP K. Shanmugam shared that he has since visited the injured woman and her family, making sure that they are taken care of.
He said that it was an unfortunate accident that shouldn’t have happened and that the walkway needs to be changed.
He added that he has since told them to do more work on the affected walkway and for it to be finished as soon as possible, adding that he doesn’t like the way the gypsum boards covering the walkway are, and that it is safer to remove them.
Shanmugam also acknowledged the quick response of the Nee Soon Town Council to the accident.
