According to the video, the one behind the camera seems to be only a child.

Asked audience to watch his actions

The video started with the cameraman exiting the train at Jurong East MRT and a voice could be heard asking people to ‘watch’ as he attempts to obstruct the door from closing.

After successfully attempting to do what he did, the red error light at the MRT door comes on and the train was stuck in the station for a while.

According to a comment from a netizen, the failsafe of such systems is that trains will not move off unless all platform screen doors are secured(closed). Because of his actions the PSD’s motor sensors could not detect that it has closed.

The cameraman then exclaimed that what he did was ‘perfect’.

He then walks away and says that he is doing so as he does not want to be a ‘suspect’ who caused the incident.

The voice then says that he is going to upload the video to Youtube, then hesitates for a while before confirming that he is going to upload the video.

He then exclaims and laughs at his failed attempted after the train doors open up for a commuter to board the train.

A while later, he is seen going to look at the track and another MRT train can be seen waiting a distance away for the affected train to depart.

He then says that the train got disrupted and exclaimed his disappointment when the staff at Jurong East MRT came up to fix the issue.

Here are what netizens think

  • Nice. Now time to report it to the authorities which I think ppl already did.
  • Once again, another day when I’m grateful that abortion is legal
  • Nice. Commit a “crime”, records it for evidence and then upload online
  • This one legit CB and add extra work for the already overworked staffs, I hope he gets slapped with a fine.
  • Time for his parents to pay such a huge fine that they’ll take away this little sh-t’s phone until he can get his own.
  • If only his video was good enough to earn enough money on Youtube so he can pay the fine… Too bad it s-cks. All this, just for a terribly taken video?

Potential penalties

Under the Rapid Transit Systems Regulations, no person shall interfere with any of the platform screen or train door or its operational capabilities other than:

  • In emergencies and by by means of any equipment on or near which is a notice indicating that it is intended to be used in an emergency
  • Where the person is authorised to carry out his duties

There is a maximum fine of $1000
