KITTEN TRAPPED IN CONTAINER AND ROLLED AROUND IN TUAS

SPCA Singapore Investigates Alleged Kitten Abuse Incident

On 29th March 2025, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Singapore was alerted to a concerning report regarding a kitten that was reportedly subjected to abuse at a workers’ canteen located in Tech Park Crescent. The information was provided by a colleague of the individual suspected of the abuse, who claimed that the kitten had been confined within a plastic container and rolled around multiple times on the night of 26th March, specifically between 9:45 PM and 10:30 PM. This alarming incident may have been recorded by nearby CCTV cameras, and it has been reported that the site supervisor was aware of the situation.

In response to the report, the SPCA conducted an unannounced inspection on 1st April. Upon their arrival, the inspectors were informed that the kitten had been released, as it was classified as a community animal. The worker involved received a stern warning; however, the manager of the canteen refused to provide access to any CCTV footage or assist in further investigations. Consequently, the SPCA has escalated the matter to the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) for additional follow-up.

The Importance of Reporting Animal Abuse

This incident highlights a critical issue: many cases of animal cruelty go unnoticed unless someone takes the initiative to report them. The SPCA encourages the public to be vigilant and proactive. If you witness any form of abuse or neglect, even if you are uncertain about the situation, it is always advisable to report it. Your voice could be the only advocate an animal has in times of distress.

If you suspect animal cruelty or observe any harmful behaviour, here are some steps you can take:

  1. Document the Incident: If it is safe, take photographs or videos of the situation.
  2. Record Details: Make a note of the location, time, and individuals involved in the incident.
  3. Report Immediately: Contact the SPCA or AVS without delay.

For immediate assistance, you can reach out to the following hotlines:

Be the Change: Advocate for Animal Welfare

Every individual has the power to make a difference in the lives of animals. By speaking out against cruelty and neglect, you contribute to a safer environment for all creatures. The SPCA urges everyone to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting any suspicious activities. Together, we can create a community that prioritises the welfare of animals and ensures that they are treated with the respect and care they deserve. Your actions can help protect those who cannot speak for themselves.Bookmark messageCopy messageExport
