A family of four has been found dead at their home in Kuala Lumpur’s Desa ParkCity, with police investigating the deaths of a mother and her two young children as murder.
The disturbing case emerged after a 48-year-old company director was believed to have fallen from a residential building in the area on Aug. 27.
Police subsequently discovered his 47-year-old wife and their two children, a nine-year-old girl and seven-year-old boy, dead inside their home.
A note reportedly linked to the 48-year-old man has since emerged as a key part of the investigation. According to Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Fadil Marsus, the note claimed the family had suffered around RM260,000 (approximately S$82,000) in financial losses and debts allegedly connected to the woman’s contact with a love scammer.
Note allegedly blamed huge financial losses on love scam
Police said the note described the man’s distress over what he believed was his wife’s continued attempts to contact the scammer despite the family’s substantial financial losses.
Fadil said the man reportedly wrote that the situation had gone too far and that he felt ashamed in front of his children.
However, police have not established that the allegations contained in the note are factually accurate, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the family’s deaths are continuing.
The case highlights the potentially devastating financial consequences of love scams, where victims may be manipulated into transferring substantial sums of money to individuals they believe they have formed a romantic relationship with.
Police alerted after man found dead outside building
According to New Straits Times, police received a report at about 3.32pm on Aug. 27 concerning a man believed to have fallen from a residential building along Persiaran Residen.
Officers then proceeded to the family’s residence, where they sought assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department to gain entry into the unit.
Three people were subsequently found dead in separate rooms inside the property.
Preliminary checks indicated that the three victims had sustained serious injuries to their necks.
A subsequent post-mortem examination on the nine-year-old girl found a five-centimetre stab wound on her neck, according to Fadil, who spoke to Malay Mail.
Police also recovered a knife and a pair of gloves from a drawer in the main bedroom. Investigators believe the items could be connected to the deaths.
