According to the charge sheet, the accused, identified as G. Loganathan, allegedly confronted the victim in Taman Gembira around 2 AM while armed with a screwdriver and a metal ruler. He reportedly forced her into a vehicle along Jalan Midah, Cheras, where the assault took place.

LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS

Loganathan faces two serious charges under Malaysian law. The first, robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum prison term of 14 years and whipping upon conviction. The second, sexual intercourse against the order of nature without consent under Section 377C, can result in five to 20 years of imprisonment, along with potential whipping.

During his court appearance, Loganathan pleaded not guilty to both charges and requested bail, citing a hernia that requires medical treatment. His lawyer, Charanpal Singh, assured the court that his client would comply with additional bail conditions if granted.

The deputy public prosecutor, Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir, opposed bail, highlighting the seriousness of the offences and the risk of the accused interfering with the victim and witnesses, particularly given that the victim is a foreign national. Sessions Court judge Dr Azrol Abdullah denied the bail request and scheduled the next mention for 16 March 2026.
