A doctor in South Korea, Ma Sang-hyuk, who is the vice president of the Korean Vaccine Society, said in a Facebook post on 16 March that if you haven’t gotten infected with Covid yet, it is very likely you don’t have any friends, according to Korea Herald.
He described people who haven’t contracted the coronavirus as having interpersonal problems.
His post was removed shortly after, but not before a screenshot of his controversial post was reproduced online and went viral.
He had reportedly made the statement when Korea was facing daily cases of about 400,000 and their death tolls were breaking records.
Ma had reportedly used his Facebook post as a metaphor to describe how getting infected by the virus was unavoidable.
