When a passenger approached the Passenger Service Centre at Marsiling MRT station, Station Manager Gerad Sequeira noticed that she was barefoot on one foot and was holding a slipper in her right hand.
Sensing that she required some help, he stepped out of the PSC and went up to her. She explained that one of the straps on the slipper had broken, and requested for a rubber band to try and fasten it.
As a rubber band may not work too well, SM Gerad suggested to help the passenger personally by using a stapler to attach the broken-off strap to the slipper. After a few attempts, SM Gerad realised that it would not work, and even if it did, the strap might possibly break off along the passenger’s journey to work. As the nearby shops have not opened and the passenger was in a hurry to report for work, SM Gerad offered his own slippers to the passenger so that she can head to work on time.
“To me, going the extra mile means I have to empathise with my passengers when they are caught in difficult and stressful situations, and go above and beyond the call of duty to assist our passengers in order for them to have a safe and reliable journey.” SM Gerad shared.
Thank you for showing us what it means to be a true #SMRTHero, SM Gerad! 🙂
