Co-chair of the Multi Ministry Task Force, Lawrence Wong, borrowed a quote from the Dark Knight movie at the end of his Ministerial Statement on 26 July.
He offered a hopeful message for Singaporeans pummeled by the relentless pandemic and restrictions being imposed and reimposed.
He said: “”It’s always darkest just before dawn. So let’s be strong and keep the faith. The dawn is coming.”
He paid tribute to two Singaporeans who are giving their all to help contain the spread of the coronavirus:
Lok Chun Kiet, a cleaner who attends to high-risk locations; and Siti Zulaina Bte Md Said, a Senior Medical Technologist with the National Public Health Laboratory at the NCID.
He asked the House to join him in giving the two unsung heroes a “big heartfelt thank you” for their “mission critical work” that requires long hours that stretch into weekends and public holidays.
