Speaking during a press conference by the Multi Ministry Taskforce, Minister Lawrence Wong said that it is still “too early” to consider easing the restrictions on high-risk activities such as live music, as well as the sale of alcohol beyond the 10.30pm limit.
Speaking to The Business Times, Wong said that they (the live music and sale of alcohol past 10.30) are being considered but whether they will be in the next step of the subsequent steps, they (the authorities) will have to make a judgement.
At the time being, it is “too early to say for now”.
It was previously reported that the streamlining of the safe management measures, which had been postponed in Late February due to an escalating Omicron wave, has since been resumed to kickstart on 15 March.
The MTF noted that the Omicron wave has likely reached its peak on 26 February, before speaking to the media about the 5 core aspects of the upcoming SMMs streamlining.
Activities such as live performances, singing, consumption of alcohol past the timing of 10.30pm, was noted by Wong.
he said that these are very specific and will be reviewed as part of the MTF’s easement on a broader scale.
MTF is also keeping a close watch on the healthcare system, as well as studying when the settings (live music, alcohol sale etc) can be eased, and they will provide more details once it is ready.
