Lexus RX300 Crashes Into Cyclist and Flees Scene at Hougang Junction

A shocking hit-and-run incident involving a luxury Lexus SUV has sparked outrage online after a video surfaced showing the vehicle ploughing through a cyclist, a road sign, and traffic lights before fleeing the scene without stopping to help.

The incident, which occurred at 6.16pm on 13 July 2025, took place at the busy junction of Upper Serangoon Road and Hougang Avenue 2. The car involved, a Lexus RX300 bearing the licence plate SLA8158D, was seen losing control while attempting a turn, striking multiple road features and narrowly missing other vehicles.

The video, uploaded by SG Road Vigilante, quickly went viral with over 19,000 views, prompting netizens to call for immediate police action against the driver. Many have speculated the driver was either intoxicated or under the influence of drugs due to the erratic driving and the decision to flee without checking on the injured cyclist.

Cyclist Miraculously Survives, Public Demands Accountability

Amazingly, the cyclist who was hit managed to get up and walk to the side of the road, seemingly avoiding life-threatening injuries. Witnesses expressed disbelief that the individual could survive being struck at what appeared to be high speed.

Viewers of the video expressed frustration, noting that road safety in Singapore seems to be deteriorating. Comments ranged from calls for stiffer penalties for hit-and-run drivers to sarcastic remarks about whether the cyclist was made of steel.

Several social media users also questioned whether the driver had a valid licence or was attempting to hide illegal substances inside the car. Some urged the Traffic Police to conduct more islandwide roadblock operations, especially during evening hours.

Reckless Driving Becoming a Serious Concern in Singapore

This case is the latest in a string of road incidents that have alarmed the public. While Singapore has long prided itself on safe and regulated roads, many citizens are now expressing concern over the growing number of reckless drivers appearing on the roads—particularly those driving high-performance or luxury vehicles.

Under Singapore law, hit-and-run offences can lead to serious consequences, including fines, licence suspension, and imprisonment. Authorities have yet to release an official statement about whether the driver of the Lexus RX300 has been identified or arrested at the time of reporting.

The video has added fuel to ongoing debates around the effectiveness of traffic enforcement, drug testing for drivers, and whether the COE system indirectly contributes to a surge in reckless behaviour among luxury car owners.
