LOCAL MAN’S CRYPTO ACCOUNT HACKED, ALL MONEY LOST

I need some advice on the following matter:

I recently started with Cryto.com and invested about $1000 to buy a few cryptocurrencies. My account got hacked and my crypto wallet is literally empty. I got in contact with Crypto.com to explain the situation, saying the amount withdrawn from my account was not done by me. I added to my notes to them that I was also unable to access my account at the time that the funds were being withdrawn – when I entered in the right email to login into the app, I did not receive any email notifications from Crypto.com to say that there was a login attempt being made.

Crypto.com has since gotten back to me saying that they are not going to reimburse the funds lost from my account as it is my responsibility to ensure that my account is secure. I did set up 2FA on my account and was still unable to login into my account and I was only able to access my account after the unauthorised transactions were made.

I would appreciate it if anyone has any advice on what I should do from here.

Here are what netizens think:

  • maybe have a look at the terms and conditions properly and see if you can even do anything at all – if there is then make a move from there i guess. i would imagine trying to seek any legal recourse would likely require expenses on your end, at which point i would just give up lmao. if not then i’d probably just give up to, and take this as a lesson. at the very least it was $1000 and not more.
  • Login to the CDC app is via using a magic link sent to your email no? Also when a new withdrawal address whitelist is made there should be an email sent to you, plus 2FA either on Google authenticator or email OTP. After the recent hack, a few of the large crypto exchanges have made their security related procedures tighter and borderline annoying. If you did not see those, then maybe the issue is that your email might have been compromised, not just your CDC account.
  • Be thankful is only $1K and not $100K or $1M.
  • U got 2fa enable it won’t be able to login. So u sure 2fa was before hack or after?
  • how did your funds go missing with 2fa. now have 3fa to transfer funds even. means the person stole your phone and email?
