A harrowing road traffic accident occurred on August 2, 2023, at approximately 3:20pm along the Seletar Expressway (SLE) towards Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), before the Lentor Avenue exit. Upon receiving the distress call, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) swiftly responded to the scene. The front of the lorry had suffered significant damage, with its structure severely crushed inwards, pinning the driver’s lower limbs beneath the dashboard. The SCDF ambulance crew initiated medical procedures to stabilize the injured driver’s condition.

The complexity of the situation necessitated a meticulous rescue operation.Officers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART), an elite unit within the SCDF, were deployed to execute the rescue mission and extricate the trapped man from the wreckage.

To facilitate the rescue, SCDF rescuers strategically employed two hydraulic extendable ramps. By exerting controlled force on the dashboard, they managed to create enough space to carefully extract the driver from the entrapment.

One of the most challenging aspects of the rescue involved freeing the man’s lower limbs that were trapped under the wreckage. SCDF rescuers employed specialized cutting equipment to remove the clutch pedal that had ensnared the driver’s left foot.
