The LRT line had a train fault and commuters were seen walking along the Bukit Panjang LRT.
A video was uploaded on social media with commuters looking confused about why the LRT has stopped.
Here is what SMRT said:
At about 9.05am this morning, a train fault occurred on the Bukit Panjang Light Rail Transit network between Keat Hong and South View stations. Our staff was deployed on site within five minutes to facilitate service recovery.
In-train and station announcements were made to inform commuters that a shuttle train service was operated between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang stations, and free regular bus services were available between those stations. There was additional train travel time of up to 10 minutes between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang stations. A loop train service was operated between Bukit Panjang and Senja stations.
There were 48 commuters in the stalled train, which had maintained lights and air-conditioning.
As the faulty train could not be pushed out immediately, our staff was deployed at about 9.40am to assist the commuters in the train and guide them safely to Keat Hong station. Priority was given to the elderly and children.
Traction power was turned off, and SCDF staff was activated as a precautionary measure during the detrainment process.
At about 9.50am, all 48 commuters arrived safely at Keat Hong station. There were no reports of commuters needing medical attention.
At about 12pm, the train was withdrawn to the depot for further checks.
Regular train service resumed at 12.05pm.
We apologise to commuters who were affected this morning.
