LTA shared on Facebook on enforcement operations against E-scooter or E-bike users who are still riding despite the lack of pressing a passed Theory Test.
The theory test familiarises riders of e-scooters and PABs with active mobility rules,
code of conduct and safe riding practices.
From 1 January 2022, PAB and e-scooter riders will have to pass their respective
mandatory theory test before they are able to ride on cycling paths and on roads (for
PABs).
Here is what LTA said:
#ICYMI Since the start of this year, a new requirement for all e-scooter and power-assisted bicycle (PAB) to pass the #ActiveMobility Mandatory Theory Test has come into effect.
Our #AMEOs have begun enforcing this requirement. Over the past six days, they caught 26 users riding without a Mandatory Theory Test certificate.
Penalties
It is an offence to ride your e-scooter or PAB on public paths if you have not passed the test. Those who are caught can be fined up to $2,000 and/or jailed for six months for the first offence.
