Tragic Death of LTA Enforcement Officer in High-Speed Chase
A Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officer, Mr. Zdulfika Bin Ahakasah, lost his life in a fatal accident on Seletar Expressway towards Bukit Timah Expressway while pursuing an 18-year-old motorcyclist. The incident occurred near the Tampines Expressway exit and involved a motorcycle, two lorries, and a van.
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the officer was chasing the rider, who failed to stop when ordered, and was subsequently involved in the accident. The rider has been arrested for multiple offenses, including failing to stop, dangerous driving, riding without a valid license and insurance, possessing scheduled weapons, and suspected drug-related offenses.
A video of the accident, shared online by SG Road Vigilante, shows the officer and the rider on the road shoulder, with the rider speeding up and the officer accelerating after him. Both vehicles cut in front of a petroleum truck entering the exit, and the officer crashed into the road divider, resulting in his fatal injuries.
The LTA has expressed deep sadness over the loss of their valued enforcement team member and is in contact with his family to offer condolences and support. The police have launched an investigation into the incident, with the Commander of Traffic Police, Daniel Tan, vowing to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that those responsible face the full brunt of the law.
