Chua Qwong Meng, the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit against SBS Transit by 13 bus drivers, released a statement expressing their embarrassment by their now-former lawyer M. Ravi’s behaviour.
They have since discharged him from their lawsuit and want a refund of the balance fees that were paid to him using the money they crowdfunded.
Insulted opposing lawyer and accused Judge
Ravi had accused Justice Audrey Lim of being biased, demanding that she recuse herself; as well as calling Senior Counsel Davinder Singh a “clown” during a case hearing discussing admin issues.
He said that his clients (the bus drivers) do not have faith in the system and that they do not want to participate in the perceived “unlawful proceedings”.
Looking for new lawyer
Chua then debunked Ravi’s claims and said that they do not condone his behaviour, which came as a total shock to them.
He said that there is no truth whatsoever to Ravi’s allegations that they had no faith in the Singapore judicial system, as well as his claims that they do not want to proceed with the case.
He added that they had put their trust in him and he had let them down and hurt their case immeasurably.
The drivers have told the court that they are looking for a new lawyer to represent them and still intend to proceed with the lawsuit.
