Singapore content creator Mabel Kee has removed a widely viewed YouTube video in which she accused her former fiancé of being unfaithful, following contact from the Online Safety Commission (OSC).
The 22-year-old announced the decision through a TikTok Story on 28 July, informing her followers that the video would be taken down the same day. She also expressed gratitude to viewers who had supported her throughout the ordeal.
Alongside the announcement, Kee shared part of a letter she received from the OSC. The notice stated that the commission had received a report concerning her online conduct in relation to the video and had reached out regarding its contents.
OSC Says It Offered Opportunity to Amend Content
In response to media queries, the Online Safety Commission confirmed that it had received a complaint about the video and subsequently contacted Kee.
According to the commission, officials acknowledged that Kee was going through an emotionally difficult period. Instead of immediately taking enforcement action, the OSC wrote to her explaining that certain portions of the video were believed to constitute online harmful activity under Singapore law. She was then given an opportunity to address those concerns voluntarily.
The commission thanked Kee for responding proactively by removing the relevant content. It also explained that every report submitted is assessed individually, with decisions made based on the available evidence and the specific circumstances of each case.
What the Online Safety Commission Does
The Online Safety Commission is responsible for handling reports involving suspected online harm under the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Act 2025.
Its responsibilities include dealing with issues such as online harassment, doxxing, the non-consensual disclosure of private information, and the publication of false material. Members of the public who believe they are victims of such conduct can submit reports to the commission for assessment.
The OSC also encouraged Singaporeans to familiarise themselves with the types of online behaviour that may breach the law and understand what can be reported through its official channels.
Video Drew Around One Million Views
The now-deleted video was uploaded on 15 July and quickly spread across social media platforms. Before it was removed, it had attracted approximately one million views and sparked widespread online discussion.
In the 50-minute video, Kee recounted the breakdown of her seven-year relationship with her then-fiancé, who is also 22 years old. She said the couple became engaged in October 2025 and had been preparing to apply for a Build-To-Order (BTO) flat during the June 2026 exercise.
Kee claimed that their future plans fell apart after she allegedly discovered that her fiancé had been involved with another woman. During the video, she described how she believed she uncovered the alleged affair through repeated private-hire ride bookings linked to a residential block.
“Hougang Block ABC Saga” Goes Viral
The story rapidly gained traction online, with social media users referring to it as the “Hougang Block ABC saga” based on the nickname Kee used for the residential block connected to her account of the events.
The viral nature of the video generated extensive discussion across multiple online platforms, with many viewers debating the allegations and the decision to publicly share details of the relationship.
Following Kee’s removal of the video after being contacted by the OSC, the incident has also drawn attention to the balance between sharing personal experiences online and complying with Singapore’s online safety laws, particularly where content may potentially cause harm or infringe on the rights of others.
