An Indonesian maid punched and hit her employer’s two-year-old son’s head with a wooden toilet brush after scolded by her employer. On Wednesday, Ayunda Lestari Dayuki, 24 years old was jailed for four months after admitting to ill-treating the child at a flat in Bukit Batok on 22 Sept 2016.
On 21 Sept 2016, employer checked the CCTV footage of the flat when she was at work and caught Ayunda sleeping in the living room. She called the helper and scolded her for sleeping.The next day a swelling was discovered on the back of the boy’s head by the employer’s husband.
Investigation showed that Ayunda hit the boy when he refused to bathe and started to cry. She punched the back of his head three times and used a toilet brush to hit his head.
During sentencing, Ayunda urged District Judge Salina Ishak to impose a lighter sentence and the Judge asked her: “You are not even remorseful for what you have done?”
She replied that she was remorseful for her “silly acts”. The sentence was backdated since 26 September 2016.
