Major Crash Along AYE Towards Tuas: Van Crushed in Collision with Truck, Heavy Traffic Jam Ensues
A major accident occurred along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) towards Tuas at approximately 11am on 10 July 2025, involving a large truck and a van. The collision resulted in the van being completely mangled, with debris scattered across the lanes and traffic grinding to a near standstill.
Van Crushed Beyond Recognition in Violent Collision
Eyewitnesses described the scene as harrowing. The van, which bore the brunt of the impact, appeared to have been crushed almost entirely. Video footage submitted by a reader of Singapore Uncensored shows the wreckage wedged against the truck, with several motorists slowing down to observe the aftermath.
Emergency services were reportedly on-site within minutes. At this point, there is no confirmation of any injuries or fatalities, although the severity of the damage suggests possible casualties.
Massive Traffic Congestion Reported
The accident caused a major traffic jam along the expressway, with vehicles backed up for kilometres. One affected commuter who sent in the video said, “I was on the way to a meeting and ended up being very late. The jam was seriously bad — took me more than 30mins just to clear the AYE.”
Motorists are advised to avoid the affected stretch and consider alternative routes such as the PIE or West Coast Highway until the accident site is cleared.
Netizens Express Frustration and Concern
The video of the accident quickly spread across social media platforms, with many Singaporeans expressing frustration over the frequency of such accidents on major expressways. Others shared concern for the van driver and urged authorities to investigate whether speeding or driver fatigue played a role.
LTA and SPF have yet to issue an official statement on the crash, and investigations are believed to be ongoing.
⚠️ Road Safety Reminder
This accident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of safe driving practices, especially along high-speed roads like the AYE. Always keep a safe following distance, be alert, and never drive while fatigued.
