Malaysia Attempted Bank Robbery Goes Wrong: Suspect Captured on the Spot

The robbery attempt unfolded in the afternoon at a bank located in the Taman Desa area. As security personnel were replacing the cash cassette in the ATM, the suspect allegedly took the opportunity to grab a bag filled with a large sum of money and attempted to flee the scene.

However, the swift response of the security team foiled the escape. Both the cash-in-transit guard and the bank’s security staff gave chase, managing to subdue the man just outside the bank premises.

Injured During Escape, Then Handed Over to Police

As the commotion unfolded, nearby bystanders rushed to the scene. Some members of the public reportedly confronted the would-be robber and gave him a rough beating, resulting in injuries to his leg. The suspect was later escorted by the police to the hospital for treatment.

Footage from the scene shows the suspect being placed into a police vehicle under tight security. Authorities also impounded the car used in the incident, which the suspect had parked nearby.

Further investigations revealed that the 38-year-old suspect has a prior criminal record. A urine test conducted post-arrest confirmed that he tested positive for drug use. He has since admitted to his involvement in the robbery.

Facing Serious Charges Under Penal Code

Police are currently investigating the case under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which deals with robbery. If convicted, the accused could face up to 14 years of imprisonment, along with possible fines or corporal punishment.

The swift apprehension highlights the readiness of security teams and law enforcement to act decisively in the face of criminal activity. Authorities are reminding the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour promptly.
