A 77-year-old man has been arrested in Pahang after he allegedly set fire to his neighbour’s home following a dispute over loud music.
Videos circulating online appear to show the elderly man approaching the entrance of the neighbour’s home before placing what appeared to be newspaper at the doorway and setting it alight. He was also allegedly carrying a bottle containing a flammable liquid.
Fire Allegedly Started Over Loud Radio
The incident reportedly happened on 14 August at Sri Kemuning Flats in Temerloh, Pahang.
According to police, the elderly man may have been frustrated by his neighbour’s alleged habit of playing the radio at a high volume for an extended period. What began as a dispute over noise allegedly escalated into an incident involving fire.
Footage shared on social media shows the man leaving the area shortly after the fire began. Fortunately, the blaze was extinguished before anyone was injured, with no casualties reported.
Police subsequently launched an investigation after receiving a report and arrested the man to assist with inquiries.
Elderly Suspect Released On Police Bail
The 77-year-old, who reportedly has existing health issues, was later released on police bail while investigations continue.
The case has also sparked discussion online, with viewers reacting to how quickly an apparently ordinary neighbourhood dispute could escalate into an alleged attempt to damage another person’s home.
While the full circumstances surrounding the incident have yet to be established, the case serves as another reminder of how disputes between neighbours can become dangerous when tensions are allowed to escalate.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further details may emerge as the case progresses.
