A 23-year-old Singaporean man has been sentenced to 15 months’ jail after having S with a 14-year-old girl inside a nursing room at VivoCity, resulting in the teenager becoming pregnant.
Court documents revealed that the man, identified as Leow Jin Hwa Ronald, had known the girl’s age before they entered into a romantic relationship. The pair reportedly first met through a Telegram gaming group in late 2024 before reconnecting months later.
After resuming contact in May 2025, the two began texting regularly and eventually went on several dates together. Their relationship later progressed despite the girl still being a minor under Singapore law.
Encounter Took Place Inside VivoCity Nursing Room
According to court findings, the pair met at VivoCity on the evening of Jun. 12, 2025. At around 8:30pm, the man allegedly brought the teenager into a public nursing room inside the shopping mall, where the two had unprotected sex.
The incident only came to light months later after the girl reportedly confided in her friends. Her teachers eventually learned about the matter and informed her mother, who took her to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital for medical checks.
Doctors later discovered that the teenager was about 10 weeks pregnant. A police report was subsequently lodged, triggering investigation that lead their relationship into the light.
Leow was sentenced to 15 months in jail.
