A video emerged online showing a man armed with a Samurai sword and attacking people and cars along Buangkok Crescenet.
The incident happened along Buangkok Crescent, in front of Buangkok Square, earlier today (14 March) at about 2pm.
The man was seen in the video holding the samurai sword and hacking a passing car on the road, before confronting members of the public who were waiting at a traffic light.
He was seen swinging the sword at one of the pedestrians at the pavement before slipping, and he was then pinned down by a few men while waiting for the police to arrive.
Potential penalties
According to Chapter 326 of the Penal Code, anyone who performs an act with a weapon that causes hurt to a person is guilty of Voluntarily Causing Grievous Hurt by Dangerous Weapons.
Upon conviction, offenders could face a life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years, and caning, or fine.
