The Singapore Police Force has apprehended a 34-year-old man suspected of stealing a motorcycle, just four hours after the incident was reported.
On 26 August 2025, at approximately 9:40 am, police received a report that a motorcycle parked at a carpark along St George’s Lane had been stolen. Using a combination of CCTV footage and police cameras, officers from the Central Police Division were able to identify and arrest the suspect swiftly. The stolen motorcycle was also recovered.
The suspect is scheduled to be charged in court on 28 August 2025 for theft of a motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. Conviction for this offence can result in a prison term of up to seven years and a fine.

Authorities have reminded motorcycle owners to take precautions to safeguard their vehicles, including:
- Parking motorcycles in well-lit areas
- Installing an anti-theft alarm
- Covering motorcycles with a canvas, securing both ends
- Using additional locking devices, such as disc brake locks or suspension guards
- Removing the ignition key and locking the motorcycle when unattended
- Avoiding leaving spare keys inside the storage compartment
These simple steps can significantly reduce the risk of theft and help keep motorcycles secure.
