The Singapore Police Force said in a statement that a 23-year-old man was arrested for a slew of offences, including allegedly causing a fire at a residential flat at Buangkok Crescent.
The police were alerted to a case of fire allegedly set by the man on 2 June at about 2.08am, at a unit at Block 999A Buangkok Crescent.
The identity of the alleged perpetrator was established by the police and he was subsequently arrested on the same day.
According to the police’s preliminary investigation, the man is also being suspected of being involved in another incident on 25 May at about 9.58pm, where he allegedly pointed a knife at a member of the public at Block 412 Yishun Ring Road.
The man also allegedly stole a pair of slippers from a nearby shop.
The knife that the man had pointed at the victim was seized by the police as a case exhibit, and the police reiterated their stance against lawbreakers.
“The police have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts and will not hesitate to act against those who blatantly disregard the law.”
