On the morning of May 9, 2025, a 30-year-old man was apprehended in Bugis after he allegedly resisted arrest while police were investigating suspected drug-related activities. The incident occurred along Cheng Yan Place, where the man was found parked in a manner deemed hazardous.
The arrest was captured on video by a bystander and subsequently shared on the social media platform Xiaohongshu. The footage, lasting approximately 15 seconds, shows the suspect seated on the ground beside a red vehicle, with his head lowered. A police officer can be seen kneeling behind him, while another individual in a grey shirt assists in the situation.
According to the Singapore Police Force, officers were conducting routine patrols when they noticed the improperly parked car at around 10:55 AM. Upon approaching the vehicle, they identified the driver as a 30-year-old male and initiated a search. During this process, they discovered substances believed to be controlled drugs, along with drug paraphernalia.
Despite the man’s attempts to resist arrest, he was ultimately subdued with the help of law enforcement and a member of the public. Unfortunately, two police officers sustained minor injuries during the confrontation. The suspect was conscious when transported to the hospital and was later arrested on charges of voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant, as well as for the suspected drug-related offences.
The case has been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for further investigation, and authorities are continuing to look into the matter.
