Ling Heng Soon, 64-years-old, pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt and was sentenced on 14 July to 4 months jail.
He had reportedly assaulted his own mother, Madam Ng Gung Huay, an 84-year-old wheelchair-bound elderly who is suffering from dementia.
What happened?
He had attacked his mother after she visited his flat at Chai Chee with her maid, Ms Eka Fransiska, on 7 August last year at around 7pm.
Soon after, the mother and son started arguing.
Madam Ng then insisted on going to the ground floor of the HDB and Ling then asked the maid to take her downstairs as he opened his flat’s front gate.
He then pushed his mother’s wheelchair towards the staircase railing causing her to fall onto the ground.
The maid helped her back into her wheelchair but Ling once again pushed it towards the staircase railing, causing his mother to fall onto the ground again.
Ling also pulled his mother’s hair and hit her left hand with a slipper 3 times.
The maid asked Ling to stop the attack, and she pushed her wheelchair back into the flat.
Ling’s wife then returned and saw her mother-in-law injured the next day before alerting the police.
