MAN BOOKED AND PAID FOR HOTEL ROOM ONLINE, ARRIVES & FINDS IT CLOSED DOWN

A man paid for and booked a hotel room online in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia; and when he arrived at the hotel, he realised that the hotel has closed down.

The netizen shared on his Twitter page @iRaesmee and detailed his experience, sharing that after booking and paying for a hotel in the area, he then travelled to Nilai on 18 March.

He said that he had booked a room at a local Malaysian hotel chain that was quite “popular” and got a reservation at the hotel via a travel booking app.

Everything appeared to be fine when he was booking the room online via the app, and he then made payment for the reservation without thinking twice.

On 18 March, he drove for hours to the city and when he finally arrived at his destination, found out that the hotel was emptied out and in darkness because it had closed down.

Can’t believe the night he’s having

Complaining on Twitter, the netizen said “I don’t know what is my fate,” adding that he had already booked and paid for the hotel room but the hotel was locked, no occupants were inside and the hotel was in the dark.

The man then called the customer service of the travel booking app, where he was then told that he had to wait about 45 minutes before they could come up with a solution.

The upset netizen then went to book another stay and check in at a different hotel in the vicinity, saying that he was desperate and even wanted to sleep in the car earlier but he doesn’t feel safe.

At the other hotel, he paid RM100 for a room, and when he entered the room, he said that it stank and smelled like cigarettes. He added that the toilet was dirty, the door knob of the front door and toilet door were loose, and the bedsheets were dirty as well.

He said that he had no other choice since his original hotel booking had closed down and was only staying for the night, but didn’t expect it to be in such terrible condition.

He was disappointed and can’t believe that night that he was having.

Replied after hours

The customer service from the travel booking app, whom he had complained to about his original hotel room booking, finally got back to him after a few hours, offering him a full refund.

The man also filed a formal complaint with the management.

He wrote in a subsequent Tweet that after he filed a report with them, he got his money back for the hotel room, which will take about 2 to 5 working days.
