It was my friend’s birthday and I wanted to do something special for him.
He had just opened a pub and was looking for customers, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to surprise him.
I invited a few of my friends over and we decided to go to his pub.
I thought it would be even better if I brought some female friends along so I invited a few girls as well.
When we arrived, my friend was very surprised to see so many people at his pub.
He was even more surprised to see the girls I had brought with us. He was thrilled and thanked me for my gesture.
He then brought out a few buckets of beer and asked me to order whatever I wanted.
Little did my friend know, I expected the bill to be free. I had assumed that since he was so excited to see us, he would offer us free drinks for the night.
I thought it would be a nice gesture on his part and I was looking forward to not having to pay for anything.
However, when the bill came, my friend asked us to pay for our drinks. I was taken aback as I had assumed that he would be the one to pay for everything.
I was also a little embarrassed as my friends were now aware of my assumption. I tried to explain my situation to my friend but he refused to listen.
My friend then reminded me that he was running a business and that he could not afford to give away free drinks.
He also said that he appreciated my gesture and that he was thankful for my efforts, but that he could not just give away alcohol for free.
Am I wrong for expecting free drinks based on what I did for my friend?
