MAN CHARGED AFTER STEALING $160 WORTH OF GOODS AT CLEMENTI SUPERMARKET

The Police will be charging a 48-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft in dwelling.

On 3 August 2022 at about 5.05pm, the Police received a report of theft at a supermarket at the vicinity of Clementi Ave 2.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly stolen several items with a total value amounting to about $160.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man on 4 August 2022 and arrested him on the same day. The stolen items were also recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is also believed to be involved in other similar cases reported at the same supermarket.

The man will be charged in court on 6 August 2022 with theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code 1871.

The offence of theft in dwelling carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, and a fine.
