Is it just me or have internship salaries been skyrocketing to ridiculously high and potentially unsustainable levels? Personally.

I have secured an internship that pays >10k a month but when I see my friends getting internships that pay >20k or 30k per month (if you count signing bonuses), I do feel quite underpaid.
Here are the numbers of some of the companies for 2023 Internship which I have gathered from sources:
- Jane Street: ~29k/mth + ~13k sign-on
- Optiver: ~25k/mth
- Jump Trading: 20k/mth + 10k sign-on
- HRT: not sure but ~20k/mth
- Virtu: 12.5k (2022)
- Quantedge: 11k (2022)
- Citadel: ~13k (2022)
- DRW: 10k
- Stripe/Meta: 10k (2022, may not be hiring interns for 2023 though)
The Asia offices dont even pay the highest, if you look at the number for US offices, its even higher: https://www.levels.fyi/internships/
Here are what netizens think:
- Very hard to land positions there. Who wants to get an idea, check the puzzles published by Jane Street.
- When an amateur compares before taxes or other logging expenses….
- Join fast, get fired fast too.
