Curious why some people put on a front before marriage.
Recently my best guy friend told me he started dating a girl and he bought a perfume for her and he used perfume on himself only when he was out with her makes me suddenly had a weird realisation. He was acting like a completely different person. He was a classic simple guy and wasn’t even into perfume. (Another common female friend picked the perfume for him).
And it wasn’t just him, my brother who is getting married soon also acts differently when he was with his fiancee. My brother is super lazy and wears minimal (topless and army shorts) at home but if his fiancee is visiting he’s always dress up and offers to clean up the whole place (which he never ever as long as I remember) before she visits.
I also had female friends telling me not to tell their fiancé their secrets, or discussing about how to hide some unglamorous stuff from their fiancé.
Since I’m at the age where people only start to get married, I’m not trying to bash what they are doing, but I wonder is that the root reason why in forums that people complain about realising their other half change after marriage, years later when they reveal their true self.

Because demo are generally more impressive than the real thing. Many people runs in demo mode all their lives without realizing it. We live our lives according to what our parents, family, friends and society expect us to be.
Couples will try their best to impress each other in the honeymoon stages of dating. By the time the guy proposes, marriage planning gets in the works and all, bits and pieces of each person’s true character will emerge. Impossible to hide already.Because when real life stressors happen, and financial decisions need to be made, both partners will come to realise the other’s worst flaws and all. So what I’m saying is: marriage is the reason for divorces lmao.
