MAN DROWNED @ EAST COAST PARK, FELL INTO SEA WHILE PACKING FISHING GEAR

A 47-year-old man was packing his fishing gear when he was swept by the waves and out into the sea.

He then drowned and died.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, the incident happened on 6 November at around 11pm at East Coast Park.

He was spotted by a few anglers who jumped into the water to try to save him.

A witness spoke to Lianhe Wanbao saying that he heard a commotion and rushed to the scene, seeing an unconscious man lying down and people trying to resuscitate him without success.

It is unclear how exactly the man fell into the waters and according to the Chinese daily, the man was already unconscious when he was found floating in the sea.

The man was allegedly walking along the beach to retrieve his fishing gear placed in different places after drinking while fishing.

The SCDF confirmed that they received a call for help at East Coast Part at the time, and a person was sent to CGH.
