A 30-year-old Singaporean man pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism, threatening to distribute intimate recording and insulting a woman’s modesty.
He was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment on 18 March.
He had filmed himself sleeping with a married woman who was his colleague without her knowing, and threating to share it with her family.
What happened?
The man had gotten into a relationship with the 33-year-old woman in 2018 and filmed them doing explicit things without her knowledge – she was his girlfriend at the time (different from the married woman).
The man was then having an affair with the married woman sometime in late 2019, and she then found obscene photos of herself on his phone after looking through it.
She deleted the photos and confronted him about it, and he then told her that he won’t do it again.
However, she didn’t delete all the explicit content as she didn’t do a thorough check on the phone.
On 9 June 2020, she told him that she couldn’t celebrate his birthday with him because she wanted to spend time with her parents.
The man then told her that he will be planning “surprises” for her, knowing that the victim believed that the surprised referred to her explicit pictures.
She then blocked him on social media, which upset the man further and he then threatened her repeatedly from 12.17am to 8.12pm on 10 June 2020
He told her that he would be sending the explicit content of her to others, including the parents of her husband.
The police were later informed and they found the explicit content on the man’s phone.
