A man’s daughter made a distressing discovery when she found a cooked cockroach in her Pepper Lunch meal. The incident occurred after she ordered a “Chicken Pepper Rice Bowl Set A” from a popular Japanese restaurant chain’s outlet at Compass One in Sengkang.
The unsettling incident came to light through a Facebook post made by Mr. Lee Steven on a Saturday. He recounted how his daughter had eagerly ordered the “Chicken Pepper Rice Bowl Set A” from Pepper Lunch using the GrabFood platform. However, what should have been a delightful dining experience turned into a traumatic ordeal.
After taking a few bites of her meal, Mr. Lee’s daughter noticed something utterly distressing—a cockroach nestled within the bowl of rice.
The insect appeared to have been cooked along with the meal, a sight that left her feeling both traumatized and nauseous. Photos shared in the Facebook post depicted the insect positioned on the rice, confined within a plastic container.
The distressing post caught the attention of Pepper Lunch, prompting a swift response from the Japanese restaurant chain.
Speaking to The Straits Times, they acknowledged the severity of the situation and assured that they would carry out a thorough investigation to understand how such an incident could have occurred.
They told ST that they “understand the severity of this case and will certainly carry out investigations on our end to provide a proper explanation on this matter.”

Upon becoming aware of the complaint, Luckin Coffee promptly responded by leaving a comment to address the problem. They expressed gratitude for the user’s feedback and apologized for her unpleasant experience at the Tampines One outlet.
