my friends believed him but I kept my distance. Not long after, he want my friend to borrow him money which he agreed and he ended up going missing.
Sitting at the bar, I was sipping my beer and talking with my friend when we were approached by a seemingly friendly man. He said he had just moved here from Bangkok, and was eager to make some new friends.
We welcomed him to join us and within minutes, he was already bragging about the massage shop he owned in Bangkok. He said he was a multi-millionaire, everyone got excited but I really don’t care la.
The man had a certain charisma that made him both likable and intriguing. He was always smiling, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel important. I kept my distance, however. Something about him just didn’t seem right.
After a few drinks, he asked my friend if he could borrow some money. My friend, already taken in by the man’s charm and wealth, agreed and handed him a large sum of cash.
The next day, the man disappeared. We searched everywhere for him, but it was like he had vanished into thin air. We were all worried, and wondered what had happened to him.
Weeks later, we found out that the man had been lying about owning a massage shop in Bangkok. He had been using people for money, and had run off with my friend’s cash. We were all shocked and disappointed.
It’s been a few years since that fateful night, and I still think about the man. I can only hope that he found a better life, and that he has learned his lesson. It was a hard lesson for us all, but one that I won’t forget.
