A 20-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being struck by a motorcyclist on December 19, 2023, at the intersection of Lower Delta Road and Ganges Avenue.
What makes the accident even more appalling is that the motorcyclist had allegedly refused to help the stricken victim, leaving him to crawl on the ground and begging the motorcyclist to help him pick up his phone to call for help, according to Mothership.
A kind samaritan later arrived moments later and helped the victim inside, calling his parents as well as an ambulance.
The victim’s sister is now seeking eyewitnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward.
Accident Details
The incident occurred around 11 pm when the victim was crossing the road at a designated pedestrian crossing.
According to his sister, he froze in shock upon seeing the motorcyclist speeding towards him and was flung approximately 10 meters upon impact.
The victim, unaware of the extent of his injuries, experienced severe pain and difficulty breathing. His leg was broken, and his spleen ruptured, leading to internal bleeding. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist did not provide assistance, adding to the distressing situation.
Accident Details
The victim’s sister, Bernice Tan, is urging anyone who witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage between 10:40 pm and 11:30 pm to come forward. Eyewitnesses or those with relevant information can play a crucial role in shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Lifelong impact
The victim, a recent graduate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, had plans to enlist in January 2024. However, the accident has led to the removal of his spleen, resulting in a lifetime dependency on antibiotics. The severity of the broken leg remains uncertain, with potential long-term complications.
Legal Action
Tan and her family have confronted the motorcyclist, who claims not to have video recordings of the incident. Tan has filed a police report and is seeking legal assistance to address the situation.
