A customer, Demian Chan, who bought a packet of duck rice from Tai Dong Teochew Duck Rice from Sims Vista Market and Food Centre in Aljunied, allegedly found a piece of metal wire inside his duck rice, according to Mothership.
Chan bought the packet of duck rice on 12 April and was tucking into his meal when he felt pain on his tongue after hearing a crack.
He had initially thought that he had bitten into a piece of bone, but in fact, it was a piece of metal wire that pierced through his tongue.
Chan spoke to Mothership and told them that it took him quite a few tries to remove the slightly curved piece of metal wire from his tongue.
He said that half of the wire was stuck in his tongue, which made it hard to extract from his flesh, but he said that there was no bleeding, although his tongue is(was) in a lot of pain.
Chan had also reportedly tried to get in touch with the stall on their Facebook page and has yet to hear from them (at the time of writing).
He has also reported the incident via the OneService app, and he also revealed that he hasn’t seen a doctor yet as there was no obvious bleeding.
However, he added that he can still taste blood in his mouth from time to time.
