A 28-year-old security guard in Jilin, China, saved a girl who jumped down from a building and ended up with severe injuries himself but was criticised by the girl’s family instead, according to HK01.
The 28-year-old who works as a security guard for a nearby hospital had received reports about a girl about to jump down from the 4th floor of the building and he rushed over immediately.
Arriving on the ground floor, he saw many onlookers and the girl sitting on the balcony, and a jumping sheet hadn’t been prepared yet to rescue the girl, who suddenly jumped down.
Qu then rushed forward to catch the falling girl with his bare hands, and the resulting impact knocked him out, seriously injuring him in the process.
When he eventually regained consciousness, he was lying in the hospital with fractures all over his body and was told that his injuries could leave him paralysed.
The girl who jumped from the building, on the other hand, had less severe injuries and was discharged from the hospital after a while.
Qu’s family reached out to the girl’s family hoping they would see him in hospital, but the girl’s family criticised and accused him instead.
The girl’s family reportedly told Qu’s family that if anything happens to their daughter, they have to bear the responsibility for the rest of their lives, pushing the responsibility to them.
Oriental Daily reported that Qu couldn’t afford to pay for his medical expenses and the hospital then stopped giving him medication.
He was also fired from his job for not going to work for many days, and his company also refused to help him bear his medical fees.
However, Qu said that he doesn’t regret saving the girl’s life, despite the string of misfortune and ungratefulness that followed in the wake of his heroic act.
He maintains that there are still many good people in this world.
