39 y.o Ganesan Angudan was fined $3,000 on Oct 26 for breaching the current rules for Covid-19 as he had invited a total of 30 people, more than the allowed eight for his wedding anniversary.
To celebrate, he booked an event space at Lotus@Norris in Little India, paying $700 for it.
Singapore was at third phase of reopening at the period, with rules only allowing up to eight for gathering at that period of time.
Guests were caught by police who went to their gathering space after complaints from the public about noises and smoke coming out from the area.
Police found people not maintaining safe distancing, guests intermingling, as well as not donning their masks when they were not having food or drinks.
Those in Singapore convicted of breaching the laws in place are liable to be jailed for up to six months, fined S$10,000 or receive both as punishment.
