A 52-year-old man was sentenced to jail yesterday (April 18) for various offences including the sexual assault of his 6-year-old niece.
According to CNA, the man pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual penetration of a minor and one charge of taking methamphetamine and was sentenced to 14 years in jail.
A gag order has been issued to protect the identity of the victim.
Background:
The incident started back in 2010, the accused was watching adult videos in the living room and told to the victim to watch them with her.
The victim who is a 6-year-old girl could not comprehend what is happening on the screen but felt disgusted.
The accused started to ask the victim to lie down on his lap and he started to touch the victim under the victim’s close causing discomfort and pain.
The victim who was in extreme pain got up and went to the Sofa, she was afraid but did not how to get help.
After the incident, the accused took a step further and tried to “sleep” together with the victim on the sofa. The accused molested the young girl and pulled his pants down but he was interrupted by his mobile phone.
How he got caught
The girl went to the hospital 8 years later for medical issues and and she was told to fill up a form that revealed that she had thoughts of self-harm.
She was then referred to a counsellor who found out about the incident.
The accused was also arrested for methamphetamine.
