MAN JAILED 3 WEEKS FOR EVADING TAXI FARE & PUNCHING DRIVER IN FACE

A man was jailed for 3 weeks after refusing to pay his taxi fare and punching the 74 year old taxi driver in the face. He even whipped the driver with his belt.

The incident happened this year on January 17 around 11.30pm at 699A Hougang Street 52.

The defendant, Peng Zhiqing, was charged with two counts of refusal to pay his fare and deliberately wounding others. According to the charge, the defendant punched and whipped the victim with a belt more than once during the incident.

Peng paid $3,400 as compensation to the victim.
