On June 18, a 35-year-old man was sentenced to 20 months jailed and three strokes of the cane after taking sexual advantage of his girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter. His girlfriend caught him in the act before she reported him to the police. He has also a history of mainly drug-related offenses.
He would pick up his girlfriend’s daughter from school everyday and would often play together. On April 5 last year, the girl took off her pants before resting on the bed. The man then sat next to her on the bed and started touching her chest. She sat up in shock but he further proceed to pull up her T’shirt before molesting her again.
He then tried to get her to perform a sex act on him by pulling her hand towards him, but her mother, who had been in the toilet, came to the room and caught him in the act. The mother lodged a police report at Punggol Neighbourhood Police Centre the next day.
