MAN JAILED FOR IMPERSONATING 7 PEOPLE TO ILLEGALLY GAIN $400,000

A man in Singapore was recently jailed after he impersonated multiple people for monetary gain, just like in the famous movie Catch Me If You Can, Frank Abagnale who was played by Leonardo DiCaprio impersonated different people to make money. illegally

36-year-old Jayden Reign impersonated at least 7 people over a period of three years. Straits Times reported that Reign impersonated his mother and an ex-colleague.

Jayden Reign who was previously known as Johnson Fok Jun Hong (It is believed that he changed his name), pleaded guilty to 38 charges which includes drug, forgery and impersonation and he was jailed for 5 years and 3 months, fined $2,000 and disqualified from driving for 3 years.

Crime Background

His crime spree lasted from 2017 to 2019, Reign impersonated multiple people and applied for the following

  • 12 credit cards
  • Multiple phone lines
  • tenancies
  • Bank Loans

Each of the bank loans was between $75,000 and $130,000. This resulted in the banks lending $340,000 in total.

Getting Chase by the Police

When the Police caught wind of Reign, they conducted an operation to arrest him in October 2019. He resided in a condominium located in Punggol that was rented with a victim’s name he impersonated in order to avoid detection from the Police.

When the Police arrived, Reign tried to escape by driving to the rear exit of the condominium.

Officers were trying to stop him from leaving but he raced forward running over a security officer’s foot and sideswiping an officer.

After fleeing the condominium, he abandoned his vehicle along the expressway and tried to escape on foot.

Investigations later revealed that he was driving under the influences of alcohol and drugs.
