Kannan Sukumara, 60, was sentenced to four years and three months jail after pleading guilty of aggravated outrage of modesty.
It was believe that Kannan, a delivery rider, was watching an R-rated video in his van before spotting a 36 year old female jogger at Yishun Avenue 1. He came down from his van before proceeding to pull her towards the bushes to molest the woman.
The accused was aroused by the sigh of the victim which led to him groping the woman. The woman resisted and Kannan punched the woman on her chest. When the woman fell, Kanna said “I want to **** you.”
Another female jogger who heard her cries for help came to her aid and Kanna fled to his van and drove off. She managed to get a glimpse of the attacker’s van’s registration number and called the police. Kanna was then arrested at his home.
For aggravated outrage of modesty, he could have been jailed for between two years and 10 years. He was not caned as he is above 50.
