MAN JAILED FOR SLASHING WOMAN 7 TIMES AT BUKIT BATOK COFFEESHOP

A 33-year-old man was previously arrested by the police for a case of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon on 27 April 2021.

What happened?

Court documents revealed that the police were alerted on 27 April 2021 at about 4:25 pm of a case that a 33-year-old man had attacked a 35-year-old woman with a knife at a coffee shop located at Blk 155 Bukit Batok Street 11.

The defendant is Xie Binbin, a 33-year-old assistant at the fishball noodle stall. Yesterday, he admitted to a charge of deliberately injuring others with a kitchen knife. The victim was Zhang Wenhong, a 35-year-old colleague of the defendant.

At 2:30 PM on the day of the incident, the victim discovered that the defendant had prepared his own lunch with shrimps from the fishball noodle stall which lead to an altercation.

Later that day at around At 4:20 pm, the defendant was again irritated by the victim questioning why he had used food that was for sale to prepare lunch. As a result, he challenged the victim with a kitchen knife, grabbed the colleague’s hair in front of the customer, and chopped the colleague’s neck and head at least 7 times with the kitchen knife.

The victim was slashed suffered injuries on her hand area as well She was conscious when conveyed to the hospital.

Arrest

The police were able to identify the suspects using Police CCTV, Jurong Police Division and Woodlands Police Division arrested the man within four hours after they were alerted to the case.
