
The defendant, in this case, is Ganesan S/O Palanisamy (50 years old), and the victim is a 48-year-old woman who was the defendant’s ex-girlfriend
According to the hearing, the defendant first asked the victim to be his girlfriend in 2017 but was refused. At about 12 o’clock in the middle of the night on August 26, 2019, the victim was on his way home, and when he stepped out of the elevator, he encountered the defendant waiting on the stairs rushing towards her.
The defendant immediately asked the victim why he shouldn’t be his girlfriend, and shouted: “Come on, we die together. I will throw you downstairs and then jump down.”
In addition, the defendant also broke into her home on the morning of 25 July 2020 while the victim was about to go out, and then he locked the door to prevent her from leaving.
The defendant then took a knife from the kitchen and pinched the victim’s neck with one hand and tried to stab her but he missed and the knife landed on the sofa.
He was sentenced yesterday(August 20) to 4 years, 16 months and 2 weeks in jail for criminal intimidation, illegal restraint of others, and violations of highway traffic laws.
