Been jobless for half a year and I’m feeling hopeless
I’ve been to about 4 interviews and all of them ghosted me. They were jobs I felt I had a fair chance of getting because my experience lines up with what each of them were looking for.
Applied to over 100? 200? idk how many at this point jobs on job sites but this is all I have. Is anyone also going through the same thing as I am?
I’m starting to think I might never find a job at all. I’m lucky that my parents are still able to support me but I need a job asap to fill the gap.
As for my resume, I’ve been retrenched twice in a row at my two previous positions. One was a crypto company that run out of money to pay anyone and the second one was a very new startup that decided to up and close the whole company within months.
I thought I might’ve been asking for a salary that’s too high for what I was able to show ($4000 asking, $3600 last drawn) so I’m thinking to just lower it down to $3500 or something.
I’m a UI/UX and Web Designer and apart from agencies I’m not seeing many companies that are willing to hire me. I’m just losing hope and looking at maybe working in a totally different industry.

- Hey op, fellow ux designer here. I can totally relate to how you are feeling rn, I just ended my few months long job search not too long ago too (difference is that I’m a fresh grad). Please hang on and $4000 for a UX role is definitely possible!
if you need any help with your portfolio, or want some motivation, or anything feel free to pm.
You can do it! - Finance industry is doing quite bad as well up to 4th month without a job and very little interviews. Might have to start again and start in a new industry. Very very stress cause I’m supporting myself. Try to take huge pay cuts for jobs but even the HR/agents says they wouldn’t want that cause might risk me not staying long term..
- Not sure if you’ve tried the public sector (Careers@Gov). I feel like your skills will be highly valued in MCI or IMDA or even big ministries with their in-house comms machinese like MINDEF. Don’t worry too much about your salary first. Just secure a job and then if it’s not making you happy, you can always look for something else. It’s ironically easier to find a job when you’re employed than when you’re unemployed. Can also consider contract jobs or internships just to get your foot in and try to secure permanent employment thereafter.
I’m in a similar position – left my previous job and trying to go into a new field. Am mentally preparing myself for internships or contract jobs just to secure a job first. Don’t panic, but like someone said, can see if your CV is up to scratch.
