According to Straits Times, a Bangladeshi cleaner, Mr Hamid, tried to break the man’s fall with a discarded sofa – he had heard the man screaming for help.

Hamid said that the man was dangling outside his window and so he did whatever he could to help the man, but by the time he moved the sofa under the window, the man had already fallen.

The fire took place on 19 December at around 1.50pm, and the SCDF said that the fire involved the contents of a kitchen.

About 50 people were evacuated from their homes before the SCDF arrived.
