He had kidnapped his former schoolmate, Harry Hilmie Harrahap Hassan, a 19-year-old, who attacked him earlier and beat him up after driving to a park, before leaving him there.

A probation suitability report was called for by the judge.

Backstory

Shahmir was attacked by Harry on 17 February near Redhill Market and suffered multiple facial injuries as a result.

One of Shahmir’s colleagues, Abdul Ridha Mohamed Hashim, 41-years-old, found out about the attack by Harry.

One of Abdul’s friends told him that her daughter was dating Harry and that harry was sleeping at a staircase outside her Clementi home.

The woman then asked Abdul to chase him away as she thought he was a bad influence on her daughter.

The kidnapping

on 19 March, Abdul Ridha, Shahmir, and two of their colleagues decided to confront Harry.

The four of them drove to the block of flats in a van as Shahmir waited in the van near the rubbish bin center of a carpark at about 9.50pm.

The other three guys brought Harry down from the 2nd floor, with one of them punching him and asking why he hit Shahmir previously – He was assaulted again as he was being led into the van.

Shahmir saw Harry approaching and immediately alighted from the van and punched Harry in the face, kicking him as well.

Harry was then led into the van and Shahmir then punched him again.

Abdul then asked Harry why he was at the block hanging out with his friend’s daughter, and Harry replied while crying that he just wanted to hang out there.

Two witnesses saw the attack and one of them called the police after the van had left – one of them approached the van before it drove off.

Along the way, Shahmir continued to punch Harry and when they reached Labrador Park, they pushed him out of the vehicle where he then fell onto the ground.

Harry was then punched in the face several times by Shahmir, as well as being kicked, punched, and slapped by two other men of the group.

Shahmir then challenged Harry to a “one on one” fight, with the group driving on to a more remote area of the park.

Shahmir then kicked and punched Harry during the fight, who kept blocking his (Shahmir’s) blows, and apart from one failed attempt at a punch, he (Harry) didn’t fight back.

The assailants then left the scene, leaving Harry on the ground, who was then woken up by an elderly man a while later, with his vision blurry.

Harry then asked the man for help to return to his girlfriend, and he was then attended to by paramedics for his injuries.

Shahmir is expected to be sentenced on 23 February with another charge of voluntarily causing hurt to be considered during his sentencing.

The cases for the three remaining attackers are still pending at the moment.

Meanwhile, Harry has also been convicted for his earlier attack on Shahmir and is awaiting his sentence.
